The Captain Returns

Right, ye salty sea dogs! This here blog has been abandoned fer too long, so I reckon it be time to get ‘er up an’ ship shape once more! YARRRRRR!!!

*cough*

And with that out of my system, we can continue.

It’s about time that I brushed the dust off this blog and got to updating it again, alongside my Patreon and my YouTube Channel. Despite this blog predating both of them, it has fallen to the wayside, and I don’t want to be a one-trick pony. I love making videos, but sometimes I want to write too. So, here we are.

Now, as most of you know, until recently, my content has been made 100% with my Razer Phone 2. I wrote the scripts, recorded the voiceover, collected footage, and edited it all just on this miraculous little device. Recently, I started a new job and so have access to a “work” laptop.

This computer isn’t great – it’s a 4Gb RAM, i3 7th Gen machine – but then, it’s meant for office stuff. That it plays some of my favourite old games has been pretty awesome, playing Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 Arena, C&C Tiberian Sun… But, the job has been pretty awkward, frustrating, and flat out does not adequately pay for my time. As such, I’m about to dump $1000 on a 4 year old laptop.

Why? Because it’s time for me to start pushing myself. I’m looking for work in the gaming community again; writing, editing, social media management, content creation etc. I need a rig to work that, and, believe it or not, that’s as cheap as things get here in Zimbabwe.

It’s hard knowing that $500 more would buy me a Razer Blade if I were in the UK, but by time you add shipping and then pay the (frankly ludicrous) 80% import tax, that’s just a pipe dream. Perhaps I can save up enough before my folks come out for Christmas, so they can bring it with them? Haha, we can hope!

So, I wanted to thank you all for supporting my channel and my progress so far. It’s the fact that people have seen fit to donate their hard-earned money to help my content that has given me the push to do this, to try and chase my dreams. Even if you’re not able to pledge as a Patreon, please know that every comment, every like, every view on every video goes noticed, and it inspires me to sail onwards.

Thank you, each and every one of you, for joining me on this journey so far, and I can’t wait to see what’s beyond the horizon!
